The economy in my dads's eyes

When I first started to talk about the economy I went to talk about it with my mom and dad. My dad started to explain what had happen. So this is what my understanding about what is going on. Banks give out loads and people must go to the banks to get the loads. The banks are then supposed to approve if the people coming to them for loans are ok applicants. The banks then started handing out loans to people who was not supposed to get a loan.
So after my dad gave me what was going on in the economy in a nut shell. I asked him what we could do. He said that if you give everyone 1million dollars. By giving everyone a million dollars people would start spending money. This would then help bring the economy up. If we have enough money to keep bailing out the banks and the auto companies we should be able to bail out the people.
I am mostly lost in why we are helping out the big business and not helping out the little ones who are struggling. As the economy shuts down something that makes me really said is how Broadway plays are shutting down due to the economy. We are no longer just losing money but we losing something that people come to American from all over the world to see. So many things we want our children to see and or do are being shut down due to the drop in the economy.
